Australian designer Hannah Grossberg describes the pieces she creates in her Sydney studio as ‘wearable art’, inspiring the name Hannah Artwear. Drawing from her extensive travels and the works of artists such as Del Kathryn Barton and Claude Monet, Grossberg paints swirling florals and paisleys that artisans then hand-apply onto diaphanous silk habotai and cotton voile using traditional woodblock printing techniques. These meticulously decorated fabrics are then elegantly shaped to produce sweeping dresses, puff-sleeve blouses and maxi skirts that capture the label’s free-spirited nature.
